Who We Are

ABOUT THE NAVY LEAGUE OF CANADA

The Navy League of Canada is a community-based, volunteer-led organization dedicated to developing the resourcefulness, vitality and leadership of young Canadians through an appreciation of our great naval traditions.

It is a civilian non-profit organization working in partnership with the Canadian Armed Forces to support the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet program. Volunteer-led, the Navy League of Canada independently operates the Navy League Cadet program (1948) and maintains an interest in Canada’s maritime security through its Maritime Affairs portfolio.

" The Branch" is the local body duly authorized by National Board of Directors to conduct the affairs of the Navy League in Kingston, Ontario. Kingston Branch received its Warrant (Charter) in 1942, granting the Branch its authority.

The Kingston Branch, as a member of the Navy League of Canada, is a partner with the Department of National Defence in sponsoring Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps St Lawrence. The Branch is also solely responsible for the operations and support of Navy League Cadet Corps Cataraqui.

The Branch always has routine operational support tasks and activities needed to be completed in providing and sustaining quality cadet programs for the youth in our "naval" community.

In addition to local fund-raising and training operations and training support activities, we also have a number of governance and reporting requirements to be met as a member of Ontario Division and the Navy League of Canada.

Current Branch members are below.  For more information about the Navy League of Canada, go to Navyleague.ca.

HISTORY OF NAVY LEAGUE OF CANADA

Established in 1895, the Navy League of Canada was originally created to help foster an interest in maritime affairs, and in particular, to encourage debate on the importance of an independent navy. Indeed, the Navy League was one of the loudest voices in establishing a sovereign naval service in Canada.
